One section of our giant shedrow.
I adore yearlings. When I was younger and just getting started in horse breeding, I despised yearlings. What’s to like, after all? Yearlings are pushy, snotty, adolescent thugs who like to shove people around, who bite and kick without provocation, who are big enough to smash you like a bug but really “just want to play with you.”
Shackleford. He’s so cute even when he’s being a brat. Although I frequently say he’s no good much beyond 1 1/8 miles, he’s got a heart of gold and tries a billion times harder than any other three-year-old I’ve seen this year.
Someone should start a Shack fan club.

I grew up with two sisters and a brother, so I know a thing or two about sibling rivalries. This is supermare Goldikova’s (Anabaa x Born Gold, by Blushing Groom) half little sis Galikova (by Galileo), who is winning all on her own and is even more accomplished than her sister was as a three-year-old. Both mares share the same jockey, Olivier Peslier, the same trainer, Freddie Head, and the same breeders, Alain and Gerard Wertheimer.
Goldikova is my all-time favorite horse EVER, so I expect to keep an eye out for this gorgeous little sister!
